About me:

I am hobbyist photographer currently living in Perth, Western Australia.  Born and raised in the North Island of New Zealand, I made a move to Australia for work opportunity, and have been enjoying seeing the different scenery that this vast continent has to offer.  Photography has always had a strange allure for me; both from an artistic appreciation, as well as from a mechanical and engineering perspective.  My first proper camera was a Panasonic 5 megapixel point-and-shoot from 2007, but it was in 2013 when I decided that if I was going to keep visiting these amazing places, then I wanted better equipment and more control over the final output.  Thus, I purchased my first DSLR, and put it through its paces whilst hiking in Tasmania!  After that, I have not looked back; and although I sometimes wonder whether this hobby of mine has become more of a strange obsession - or a means-to-an-end rather than something to accommodate my travels - I still gain a massive amount of enjoyment out of it, and hope to continue being led about by my camera as it chases the ideal light and hunts for the perfect composition ( I haven't found them yet! ).

I currently shoot with a mixture of 35mm Full Frame DSLR and medium format, using a somewhat eclectic collection of primes and zooms.  When travelling, I tend to compromise between the weight of my camera gear, and the potential of the images that I can take with the aforementioned gear.   I won't claim to have been everywhere yet; and with the size of this continent as well as the variety of things to see both here and in New Zealand, one could spend a lifetime exploring the two countries.  However, I do intend to slowly chip away at it!

And as always, I would express my gratitude for the opportunity to travel and witness God's beautiful creation.  I hope that my photos express this beauty succinctly.
